The First Annual Eastvale Lantern Festival is coming in Feb 2022
(February 19-20, 2022) – The City of Eastvale, in conjunction with the Eastvale Chinese American Association and Panana Events is excited to announce the launch of our inaugural Lantern Festival. This two-day event will take place February 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and February 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Lantern Festival marks the final day of the Lunar New Year celebrations and has centuries old tradition and influence on many countries in East and Southeast Asia. This day marks the first full moon of the Lunar New Year. People will hang lanterns out and eat rice ball dumplings, the circle theme representing the reunion of the family.
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony featuring a Lion Dance on the stage from 11:30am-1:00pm on Saturday Feb 19. The opening ceremony will be attended by the Mayor Clint Lorimore, Eastvale City Council – Mayor Clint Lorimore, Mayor Pro Tem Todd Rigby, Jocelyn Yow, Christian Dinco, and Brandon Plott, State Assembly Member-Sabrina Cervantes, State Senator Richard Roth representative, Corona-Norco Unified School District: Board Member Lisa Marroquin, Staff: Dr Lisa Simon , Mr. Glen Gonsalvez, Rondo School of Discovery Principle: Dr. Trevor Dietrich, River Heights Elementary Principle Dr. Teri Dudley, Eastvale Police Chief: Marcus Boydd and ECAA Leadership: Howard Feng & Veronica Li, and Panana Events leadership Eric Luan and Henry Wu.
At the stage, performers from all around Eastvale will showcase their talents. Must watch shows include traditional Chinese dance by ECAA, modern dance from Tang Arts and Performing Studios, traditional instruments such as Chinese erhu and zither by DEC, Kungfu performances and so much more.
The event will also host 16 unique food vendors and 3 food trucks. Be sure to come with an empty stomach to enjoy unique bites and mouthwatering drinks. This year’s lineup includes Korean BBQ grilled fresh to order, lamb skewers with cumin and pepper, steamed buns, dumplings, boba milk teas with any flavor you want and more!
At the marketplace, local and regional artisans will be on hand selling traditional and modern goods, including hand cut paper art, handmade jewelry and clothing, terra cotta dolls, Japanese dolls, and hand-written calligraphy from China and Vietnam. Also be sure to check out local artists drawing caricatures, manga, henna, and custom paintings. At night, the marketplace will be lit by stunning lanterns in tradition of the Lantern Festival.
Young children can play their heart out on the fun-zone inflatable rides. They include a 40’ obstacle course, 20’ tall rock wall climb, and jumpers among many more. Best of all, all rides are free!
“Coming together as a community to celebrate Eastvale’s diversity is a priority for the Eastvale City Council, and we’re excited to partner with these community groups and join in the celebration,” said Mayor Clint Lorimore.
The Lantern Festival will be “a great opportunity for the Chinese community to share their culture with others” said President of ECCA, Howard Feng.
The 2022 Eastvale Lantern Festival is presented by Panana Events, The City of Eastvale, and Eastvale Chinese American Association (ECAA).
